It's not Sunday — Part I
"Uncatchable" passes

It's not a catchable pass...

No matter what the situation, it seems that almost any contact between a receiver and defender on a pass play will be viewed by someone as pass interference — usually on the defense. On a given Sunday, you might see pass interference waived off if, for example, the pass lands 10 yards in front of the receiver. In high school there are no provisions in the rules for an "uncatchable" pass, but having said that, let me remind us all that officials still need to determine if "interference" actually prevented the receiver from reaching the ball.

Note: Keep in mind that contact by the defense before the pass is an illegal use of hands/holding foul rather than defensive pass interference.
