Always evolving
ootball has clearly evolved from its rugby-like beginnings. Initially, there were no forward passes, for example; but in time the rules were changed to allow that strategy.
Can you imagine what the game would be like today without the forward pass?
When you get right down to it, we’re still talking about a game. And a lot of the "game" is about having fun while playing it and enjoying what you’re seeing while watching it. The A-11 offense, as the Piedmont High School coaches have initially alluded to, appears to reduce the number of severe injuries to participants. Looking back at the evolution of the game and the continued emphasis on player safety, we can say that perhaps the A-11 offense is simply the next permutation in the development of the game.
