Keep it year-round
primary point made in Part V was the importance of maintaining your journal year-round and not abandoning it during your off-season. Not only should you be reviewing your journal during the off-season, you should also be recording information on your rules and mechanics study and physical fitness routines. All of that off-season information helps you interpret, after the next season, just how effective your off-season work was in preparing you for the season. If, for example, there were aspects of your pre-season preparation that didn’t go as well as you would have liked, by recording that preparation routine in your journal, you’ll have an opportunity to review exactly what you did then and make the appropriate changes.
This discussion conjures up the oft-used definition of insanity: Repeating the same actions but expecting a different result.
