s I'm waiting with great anticipation for the battle between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, so many thoughts come to mind.
Super Bowl XLII is being held in Glendale, Arizona, at the University of Phoenix Stadium on natural turf. There will be no repeat of the rainy weather that affected last year's game as the stadium has a retractable roof to seal out the elements if necessary. This is a stark departure from the championship games where New England sealed its 18th straight victory on a cold afternoon in Foxboro over the San Diego Chargers; or, the third coldest game on record in the NFL at Green Bay where the New York Giants seemed less affected by the weather than the hometown Green Bay Packers.
The University of Phoenix Stadium is a natural turf field unlike any other in that the grass is stored outside in a tray and rolled inside before the game for a combination of natural grass inside a covered stadium; this is, if the roof is closed.
