More is not always better
ack in college, I had the habit of recording volumes of notes with the hope that the more notes I took, the better off I'd be. My initial college-year grades, however, indicated that my copious notes did not translate into improved learning of the material.
Refining my methods, I found that one of my best study techniques turned out to be rewriting my scribbled notes so that: (1) they were more legible; (2) I was forced to read them at least once; and (3) in the course of rewriting them, I was able to add other relevant information that I remembered from the lecture but hadn't initially jotted down.
