n unbalanced formation is simply a formation where there are more linemen on one side of the snapper than the other. While a balanced formation may have a guard, tackle, and end on each side of the snapper, an unbalanced formation might have just a guard and end on one side. Even with an unbalanced formation, the rules for needing at least 7 players on the line and 5 players with the numbers 50-79 still applies. As promised, let’s use a caseplay and a visual aid to look at some different "unbalanced line" scenarios.
Caseplay #1.
Third and one at B’s 30 yard line. Team A lines up in the formation shown in Figure 1, with A55 as the snapper and A10 the quarterback who is in position to receive a direct hand-to-hand snap.
