Other than the fact that they are all football mechanics, you'd be right; I'll cover a variety. There's also one other fairly common thread. Many of the mechanics I'm covering were the topic of discussion in one or more of our local association meetings this past season. That said, the coin toss seemed a logical place to begin.
So who’s right?
There appear to be a couple of schools of thought when it comes to the pregame coin flip. On one side of the fence are the pomp and circumstance folks that the captains deserve a trip to the center of the field along with the recognition that comes with that ceremony.
The other perspective is that the coin flip can be done just as well on the sideline.
