Bob McGowan was an English teacher and football official for five decades. He was a graduate of Chaminade High School in Mineola, Long Island, and Notre Dame University. He spent 25 years as a college football official.

The educator

Bob wasn't an educator only in the classroom. He was an educator at our meetings. Anytime that Bob spoke, his audiences received an education in rules' knowledge and game management interspersed with some comedy designed to keep his audience focused.

This is a small sampling of a presentation that Bob delivered just a few months before he died. Perhaps I should have waited until the summer months when we all start to gear up. But it's always good to work on our craft, whatever the weather outside.
