NFHS rules
FHS has released rules revisions for the 2007 football season, and this year made mandatory a two-yard zone around the field.
Viewing a football game requires having a good perspective of a game that covers over 6,300 square yards of well-maintained, flat earth. Even under the most ideal conditions, from a point on a sideline to the farthest hash mark is about thirty-four yards away.
As the game becomes more popular, the area immediately surrounding the field gets crowded with camera people, spectators, coaches, players, etc. Many often don't understand that their equipment and their bodies pose a hazard to players and officials.
