Tom Paine and the New England Patriots
One of the great writers of the American Revolution was Thomas Paine. He felt that most relationships were like a courtship: They start off new, exciting, and passionate. Things could not be better. As time marches on, like a thief in the night, the passion that once guided the relationship seems to sputter. It's replaced by complacency.
Call it the loss of love, the revealing of the truth, or the natural state of life. In the end, the very thing that you admired most about the situation is the one you most hate. Any alternative would be better than the situation you find yourself in. But like the winters in the Artic and the dark nights that accompany them, you are stuck and you thirst for a change.
