he Fathers of Football series in the last few editions has journeyed through one of the most radical rules revision periods of the game's history, 1910. From our twenty-first century perspective, the rules produced a game that more closely resembles what we are familiar with, so much so that the game of 1900 would seem almost alien to us. But the truth be told, it was a different game!
Items such as the forward pass, seven men on the line of scrimmage before the snap, and revised tackling rules transformed the game — from a brutal, battering ram of humanity thrust into a wall of flesh — into a strategic game, where individuals could make a difference but the concept of working as a team was still prevalent.
