ur last edition of Fathers of Football left off with the discussion about the rules changes from joint meeting sessions of the Intercollegiate and the Conference Committees in the early part of 1910. There were four such gatherings that year in late winter held in New York and Philadelphia. Many of the rules revisions had to do with formations and game timing, which we discussed in Part XXVIII, but we also promised that there was more to come, much of which concerned the forward pass.
Winds of change
Before we cover the changes in the forward pass, there are still some non-pass revisions from 1910 that we have not yet covered. One such new rule stated:
