To recap...
A21 throws a forward pass toward the sideline to A36 whose right foot is on the sideline mark just past A's 40 yard line. The pass bounces off his hands and is intercepted by B12, who is immediately downed by A36.
The result of that play was that the ball became dead once it was touched by the out of bounds A36. (For all the gory details, you'll have to click back on the Part IV link and check it out for yourself.) The wrinkle I left you with at the end of Part IV was this:
Suppose, instead, that A36 leaped up to get A21's pass after he had already stepped on the sideline.
