o far in this series, we have examined the inspirations of football up until the early 1900s. We learned that then President Theodore Roosevelt had even stepped in, requesting reform of the game. But why? The game had transformed into sheer brutality, and it was getting worse as time went along. How bad was it really? I think we need to delve into that question to enhance our appreciation of what our founding fathers of football did to save the game.
