More and more teams in high school are developing complicated passing attacks in their offenses. It is important for officials to adapt and prepare for the many looks an offense will use. That's the only way any crew can properly call those plays.

The pregame meeting is a perfect time to focus and organize the coverage needed in those plays. This portion of the outline will use the five-man officiating crew as the basis for keys and coverage since it is the most widely used in varsity games. Six- and seven-man mechanics are the wave of the future, though, and can easily be adapted from the more complex five-man mechanics.
