Nemmers: The worst [color analyst] is Joe Theismann. He is THE worst. He is a self-proclaimed expert on everything, and he is never wrong. You will never hear him apologize. All the announcers are paid to create controversy. Of course, they have to create interest. You create interest by being controversial. That is why they have two [commentators]. One person to be the play-by-play, the other to be the commentator.

Officiating.com: But Theisman works with two partners. [Mike Patrick and Paul Maguire.]

Nemmers: Well, maybe there are three wrong in that booth.

[laughter]

One thing you depend on: Joe is wrong.

[laughter]

Officiating.com: We did a little research. Joe's most famous screw up occurred when he said that "genius" was not a word that should be connected with football. "They said I was a genius. Well, I'm no Norman Einstein, if you know what I mean."

[laughter]

Nemmers: But that's just general knowledge. His football analysis is a little shaky, too.
