You gotta love those wives!

y lovely wife teaches third grade at one of the local schools. Using pictures that I took around the world, my wife found a way to bring my military service into her classroom as a way to teach her kids about different cultures and concepts — until this year — when my life moved forward, and I began to pursue my new avocation with the passion I used to devote to my soldiers. I did not expect that my officiating career would end up in her classroom as well.

During parent-teacher conferences this year, one of the Dads noticed a picture of my crew in zebra suits and started asking questions and said he was interested. My wife told him to give me a call, and she later told me the story. I soon forgot about the incident and figured it was just one more guy that “had always wanted to be an official” but never followed through.

Shortly after returning from the Christmas holidays, my wife received a hand-written note from this Dad, scratched on the back of a homework assignment.
