"I wish I had known about this ten years ago," Larry, one of my rookie officials mumbled the other day.
"Known what?" I asked as I sipped my coffee and pretended to work.
"About being a football referee. I would have really enjoyed doing this before my kids came around. Not that I don't enjoy it now, I'm having a load of fun. I just think I would have had an even bigger blast before I had the kids. Heck, even Momma is excited about me calling ball."
Larry and I work within ten feet of each other at our real jobs; and as can be expected, part of our daily routine is breaks to drink coffee and talk football and baseball. Somehow, I think our boss would be less than thrilled if he knew this. But, hey, that's life. And I don't think he visits this site.
