As a new, football white hat, I am learning that my crew relationship is much like a marriage, only I am working to meld together seven different personalities, not two.
Bad news
"Alan, I have bad news," my Umpire says on the other end of the phone on Tuesday night. "The Conference just called and I have to drive to Mississippi Friday night for a scrimmage on Saturday morning. I am not going to make our scrimmage."
"No problem," I utter as my brain kicks into overdrive, my knees go weak, and I try to figure out how I am going to solve this problem. My right-hand man, my guru, my veteran, my security blanket will be absent for our first scrimmage of the year.
