Scrimmage kicks

hat formation must a team be in for a scrimmage kick? What restrictions are placed upon either team when A lines up in a scrimmage kick formation?

Teams normally kick from a scrimmage kick formation; however, that is not mandatory because a team can do a quick kick from a regular formation. The scrimmage kick formation is the same formation with numbering restrictions as in any play from scrimmage.

There is a numbering exception that allows interior linemen to have a number other than 50 to 79. For that exception to be allowed there must be one player seven yards or more from the line of scrimmage in place to receive the snap from the snapper.
