layers in high school are teenagers and unless you have total amnesia of your teen years, you probably recall how well you always followed the rules, which probably was to obey them as long as they fit your style. Even though the rules of football on equipment are designed to protect against danger without being confusing, and appropriate to the game, players, if they feel they can gain an advantage, may stretch those rules.

In Part I we covered mandatory equipment and the consequences of not wearing it as it pertains to protecting a player form injury. Auxiliary equipment such as pads, sweat bands, shields, etc., can be sanctioned by the umpire within certain limits. Any doubt about the legality of equipment is subject to the determination of the umpire, who is the final authority.
