e are now in the beginning season of football for 2001... the “off” season. Teams are doing their thing with weight training, sprints, and skull sessions, trying to get stronger, faster, and smarter so they have a chance of reaching their goal of a championship next year. Officials need to have a planned off-season also if we want to be in the top echelon of officiating and be selected for the play-offs and championship games as well.
To be the best we can be, we cannot relax and wait until August to begin preparing for next season, we must begin now (or have started immediately following the final whistle of the 2000 season). Several suggestions come to mind if our goal is to be a better official next year than we were this past year.
