OBSCURE RULES Have You Ever Called These?

n a previous article, we talked about the most commonly called fouls, today let's look at events that are rarely called. If you have ever seen or called more than one of these, you are certainly in the minority of football officials. Many of these rules were added to the book due to a one-time occurrence, but they are still in the book (NCAA Rules).

Hurdling—is an attempt by a player to jump foot, feet, or knees in front over an opponent who has no parts of the body other than feet in contact with the ground. Hurdling before the snap is a dead ball foul!! Hurdling carries a 15-yard penalty.
