lthough some guys appear to be "natural" officials, it takes much more than someone with athletic ability or someone who was an all-state quarterback in high school to make a good official!
What makes a good official? That's what chapter leaders need to know and then communicate to beginners each season in their training program. While I don't profess to know everything (noone else does, either), I have some ideas that might be helpful. The sooner these ideas are shared with new officials, the more likely they are to be around for the second and third year and get caught up in the aura of the game and make officiating a long and more successful avocation.
