he circumstance that makes this an issue and a point of discussion is that too many officials take the field with an apparent chip on their shoulder and with the objective of "keeping the coaches in line." This should not be! Even the coach with the reputation of being "incorrigible" will be sociable if you will let him. Don't let him run over you, but let him know that at least for the night, you are going to get along and have a successful and fun time on the field. If you are not strong enough to avoid a dislike of a particular coach and overcome feelings of animosity, then don 't take the assignment and if this happens too frequently, it's time to do some internal soul searching about your motivations for officiating.
