This actually happened in one of our local JV games with three officials: The visiting team had scored a touchdown. On the point-after, eligible A3 runs into the end zone and blocks an unsuspecting B5. Eligible A4 runs behind A3’s block and catches a pass for the score. Linesman’s flag flies.
The Linesman describes the play to the Referee, reporting it as pass interference. To the Linesman’s surprise, the Referee responds: “There is nothing wrong with that.” The Umpire, hearing what had happened, also tells the Linesman the play is legal.
